The Shack

I built my writing shack in the woods on our property, within sight of our house but a world away in terms of privacy since the standing rule around these parts is: “Don’t bug Daddy when he’s in the shack!” In this “world within the world,” I escape the demands and routines of my life and just focus on writing, or stare out the window and watch the weather, awaiting inspiration . . .

Mark,
I love your collection of bears and the bird feeders directly outside your writing window! And, yes, I definitely use the "old school" pencil sharpener on my desk.

Sounds like your own bear cave--keep a safe distance, or the bear will growl! Wonderful space.

What a wonderful spot to write, or muse, Mark. Do you ever see an "live" bears out your window?

I love your shack! I have always dreamed of having a shack in the woods to write in. Wonderful!

David, Black bears, along with cougars, have indeed been spotted in the neighborhood, though not by me. It definitely fires the imagination, though, whenever I hear a rustling in the woods outside my window!!

How very exciting, to even have the possibility of spotting a black bear or cougar out your window...or in your neighborhood.
