I Love a Parade
Yesterday was White Bear Lake's annual Manitou Days Parade. This year's theme was "Bear Tales," a celebration of books, writing, and local authors. I had the honor of riding in a float with other area writers...and I had a ball. I brought along the dragon puppet from my picture book "The Best Pet of All" and it was so much fun to watch both the kids and adults smile and wave back when they saw the dragon. My summer is off to a good start.

I love the picture and the dragon puppet, David. Sounds like a lot of fun!
I love the shades on your dragon!!
How fun!!
You both look great.
I didn't know you did this! What an honor for you and the dragon. Did you have many kids wanting to try moving it when you got off the float?
The float ended at one corner of a park where there were no kids around, Library Jewel, and I put the dragon in a bag when I walked home. When I visit schools, all the kids want to operate him and I have to insist on the "look but don't touch" rule.
What a fun way to begin your summer!
